The 15th of January of 2015 has been a very special day for me. I met 75 year old Alberto Gutierrez, also known as the Stone Man, in his beautiful home deep in the Tisey Estanzuela Natural Reserve. He has been carving stones there for almost half of his life and will proudly present his work, should you make the effort of paying him a visit.

The four day Cabo Froward trek requires exact planned for the tides in order to cross multiple rivers. Some blogger wrote that you should be a “hardcore trekker, crazy or German” to do this hike. Meeting all requirements, it was a perfect match for me! Pouring rain for days turned this into quiet the adventure and a failed river crossing though.

Couchsurfing has been a huge part of my travel life. I have met countless amazing people on this platform over the years, both as a host as well as a guest. There has been some rapid Couchsurfing changes in the last weeks though, which caused a revolt in the community, potentially splitting it up between Couchsurfing and its competitors BeWelcome and Trustroots.
