I just got back from Iceland a few days ago and since I it will probably take me a long while until I can write a report about this amazing trip, I decided to at least upload some pictures so you can have a short look. There’s also a brief summary on what we’ve done in the week.
The trip did not disappoint at all and I’m very happy that I was able to see everything on my To-Do list except for Dettifoss, the amazing waterfall from the Prometheus opening scene and usually the roads leading there are always closed in the winter.
Meeting a lot of great people and having an awesome Roadtrip team in Jessica, Nicole and Michael on board, this trip did not only bless me with a lot of breathtaking and spectacular nature sights, but also taught me a few new card games & riddles 🙂
My personal highlight was certainly our visit to the majestic Crystal Cave, one of just two currently accessible Ice Caves in Iceland and the second main reason to visit the Island during Winter. We were also lucky enough to witness the first reason to go there – the Northern Lights. Even though they did not dance for us in the sky as one might have hoped, it was still breathtaking to see them for the first time in my life.
I will never forget the scenery in general, the countless great waterfalls, the natural hot springs and above all, our adventurous road conditions when we were stuck in the snow three times with our 2WD vehicle but finally managed to drive the complete ring road in the bad weather conditions.
The only part that disappointed me a little bit was snorkeling between the American and Eurasian continental plates in Silfra. It was still a great experience, but the fact that we were not able to dive down a bit due to the dry/wet suit combination and the missing sunshine made it a bit less spectacular than I was hoping for.
Well this is all for now, I hope you enjoy the pictures and at some point I will upload a proper report with a lot more pictures and videos – I just want to write about older trips first now to finally get them done.
