28/04/2015 Bariloche was my last proper hiking opportunity for a while with Buenos Aires and then Uruguay as the next destinations. I made the most of the time by hiking for 3 days and 2 nights through the great landscapes of Argentina’s Lake District, scrambling up steep cliffs and camping on the peaks with some incredible views. 27/04/2015 I finally made it to Argentina’s Lake District with Villa la Angostura as my entry point. The lovely little town was covered in Volcan Calbuco’s ash and I enjoyed my lonely hike up to one of the nearby mountains, wandering through the bizarre looking landscape. 26/04/2015 Volcan Calbuco remained calm and I was headed to Villa la Angostura in Argentina. The journey involved a lot of hitch hiking and walking through ash-covered landscapes after the eruption, providing a rather uncommon expierence. Read the rest of this entry »
24/04/2015 I was making my way out of Chiloé, pretty excited to see the still erupting volcano Calbuco from the ferry. 22/04/2015 After attending a lecture about Chiloé during the navimag ferry ride, I decided to change my plans and visit the biggest island off central Chile’s coast, known for wooden churches and myths about trolls or ghost ships. 19/04/2015 The 4-day Navimag cruise from Puerto Natales to Puerto Montt is known for it’s amazing views on the Patagonian Fjords and the chance to see blue whales. I was lucky with the whales, but not so much with the weather, leaving me with mostly grey skies and rain. Read the rest of this entry »
