(Video) African Safari in the Serengeti & Zanzibar

[24/06/2012] Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro and the Serengeti pleased us with some spectacular wildlife, especially when two cheetahs came up right to our car! We also got stuck with our jeep in a remote lion territory and did a side trip to Lake Natron and the local Maasai before ending the trip on the Island of Zanzibar with amazing beaches and Kite surfing. Live #35 – Myanmar (Bagan & Monywa)

2_video_live_updates

[26/03/2017] My last stop in Myanmar was the world famous and absolutely breath taking temple complex of Bagan. Not only is it much bigger than Cambodia’s Ankgor Wat, but it also has a very different kind of architecture. I woke up for 5 consecutive sunrises at 04:30 and even spent one night in a small temple! Monywa and it’s huge standing Buddha turned out to be a great side stop on my way to Mandalay as well. Read the rest of this entry »

Live #34 – Myanmar (Golden Rock & Inle Lake)

2_video_live_updates

[18/03/2017] The balancing Golden Rock in Kyaikhteeyoe was crowded with locals, but the sunrise after walking up in the night was probably the best in the country! Stopping in the capital Naypyitaw next with it’s empty 20 lane highway was a good choice as well before arriving in Kalaw to do an independent 1 day hike to famous Inle Lake. Today, I touched down in Brunei’s capital Bandar Seri Begawan and am now only 5 more countries away from my big anniversary of 100 visited countries! Setting up every destination in a chronological list, I have ticked off 95 out of 196 (48,47%) and counted the 193 United Nations countries, Holy See, Palestine as well as Kosovo. With Australia and New Zealand taking up nearly half a year from June onward, my 100th country has to wait until November and will be the Philippines!

Live #33 – Myanmar (Yangon & Hpa-An)

2_video_live_updates

[13/03/2017] Myanmar is a true gem in the South East Asian landscape. It is not overrun by tourists (yet) and hosts some of the friendliest people I have met in Asia so far. This first part features the capital Yangon, giving me a strange sensation of actually liking a city and the amazing outdoor hub Hpa-An! Oh and as everywhere in Burma, you will see a lot of Buddhas!
